NEW DELHI: For the first time, Apple has joined the ranks of the top five PC makers overtaking the likes of Asus, as per the latest IDC Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker.
The company is now the fifth largest PC vendor, registering a quarterly market share of 6.3%, shipping 4.9 million units. The Cupertino giant had shipped 4.5 million units in the same quarter, last year and had a market share of 5.7%.
Apple is the third largest computer vendor in the United States shipping 2.2 million units.
As per IDC, worldwide PC shipments during the quarter declined by 1.7% year-on-year at 78.5 million units.
Lenovo was the top PC supplier, hitting record volume of 15.7 million units. IDC says the company managed to regain growth in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) and maintained its strong pace of expansion and growth in EMEA. It registered a 20% market share.
