NEW DELHI: Asus has launched its ZenFone series of smartphones in the Indian market, at starting price of Rs 12,999.
The Taiwanese company has announced that the 8GB and 16GB variants of ZenFone 5 will be available for Rs 12,999 and Rs 13,999, respectively. The smartphone will directly compete against Moto G and features a bigger display but an older version of Android.
Asus ZenFone 5 has a 5-inch screen with 720p resolution and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). It runs on a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor with HyperThreading technology 2GB RAM and packs 2GB RAM. On the back, it has an 8MP camera with LED flash, while a 2MP camera is placed in front.
The biggest model in Asus's smartphone series, ZenFone 6, has also been launched in India. The 16GB model costs Rs 17,999, making it the most aggressively-priced 6-inch phablet in the Indian market. Major players like Sony and Nokia sell their 6-inch smartphones at approximately Rs 25,000 in India.
