Lambada teachers are not being allowed to in many schools
As schools reopen on Monday after the weekend, authorities in Adilabad district expect defiant parents and truant students to fall in line and allow ‘banished’ Lambada teachers to attend to duties in respective schools.
It is almost three months since the Adivasis forced the Lambada teachers out of Ashram Schools as part of their tiff with the latter.
“Of the total 54 schools under Integrated Tribal Development Agency, Utnoor, 32 were affected by the boycott of Lambada teachers. They are not being allowed only in eight schools at present,” revealed Adilabad District Tribal Development Officer Posham.
While efforts of the district administration and Police department yielded results in that the Adivasi organisations agreed to allow Lambada high school teachers in view of the ensuing SSC exam, villagers and students in some villages continue to hold out. According to the DTDO at the Jhari, Narsapur (B) and Arjuni schools in Narnoor and Utnoor mandals, Jhari Punaguda and Umri in Talamadugu and Wanwat, Chinchughat and Mamidiguda in Adilabad mandal schools the villagers have not allowed the Lambada teachers to report on duty.
“We will continue our efforts on Monday too. We hope the parents and students see reason and relent,” he hoped.
