Congress, BJP set for clash on 'Quit India' resolution today

NEW DELHI: In a not-so-veiled barb at RSS-BJP on the anniversary of the Quit India movement, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi said the people in government were political heirs to organisations that had opposed the iconic movement and collaborated with the British.

The Congress Working Committee passed a resolution on Tuesday paying homage to the 1942 movement on its 75th anniversary, and AICC is learnt to be preparing for a showdown in Parliament, which will observe the anniversary in a special session on Wednesday.

At the meeting, Congress members claimed that the resolution likely to be adopt ed in Parliament bore no mention of Mahatma Gandhi and Congress, the protagonists of the movement.
