Enraged BSF trooper kills 3 before ending life in Tripura

In a bizarre incident, an enraged trooper of the Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead three colleagues before shooting self at a border location in north Tripura before dawn on Sunday.

The incident occurred at a border out post (BOP) manned by 55th battalion of BSF at Maguruli in Kailashahar of Unakoti district.

Police officials after visiting the spot informed that, constable Sishu Pal, 28, sprayed bullets from his automatic weapon at his colleagues following a tiff. Head Constable Vijay Kumar, 45, was first to fall prey to bullets. Sishu Pal went into shooting at BOP sentry and others. The sentry was lucky to escape, but Constable Driver Rakesh Kumar Yadav, 22 and Constable Rinku Kumar, 30, sustained grave injuries. The trooper then committed suicide by shooting self. Both injured BSF men succumbed to injuries in hospital.

Tripura Frontier Headquarters of BSF in a statement informed that mortal remains of four BSF personnel were being dispatched to their respective native places. Sishu Pal hailed from Jammu. It said senior BSF officials including Inspector General were camping in the spot.

In a similar incident on March 3, 2011, a Border Security Force trooper shot dead three colleagues in Raisyabari area of Dhalai district. In another incident occurred on January 29, 2013 a constable of paramilitary Tripura State Rifles (TSR) killed three at a remote security camp in Chawmanu of Dhalai.
