Goa bypoll results LIVE updates: The Election Commission of India will on Monday declare the results in crucial Panaji bypolls. The electoral fate of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Congress nominee Girish Chodankar and Goa Suraksha Manch’s Anand Shirodkar hangs in balance as counting will be held today. Besides Panaji, the by-election was also held in Valpoi constituency on August 23. Valpoi will see competition between Health Minister Vishwajit Rane of the BJP is contesting against Roy Naik of the Congress. Parrikar took charge as Goa chief minister in March after resigning as defence minister. When Parrikar took charge, he was not an MLA and hence had to get elected to the assembly within six months as per law.
7:32 am: Manohar Parrikar alleged that some Congress leaders, including Goa Mahila Congress chief Pratima Coutinho, were going around like “goons”, and violated the ECI’s prohibition of outside leaders camping in the constituency on polling day.
7:29 am: Panaji had recorded 77.06 per cent polling during the February 2017 Assembly elections, while Valpoi had registered 86.29 per cent voting then, Chief Electoral Officer Kunal had said.
7:26 am: Manohar Parrikar had said that he would release documents related to his complaint, if the ECI did not take action within seven days.

7:24 am: After the polling was over, Manohar Parrikar accused the Congress of trying to sabotage the election process and said that he had submitted a complaint to the ECI.
7:20 am: Goa’s Panaji constituency today recorded 70 per cent polling while Valpoi registered 79.80 per cent turn-out in the Assembly by-elections in the BJP-ruled coastal state.
7:15 am: In Valpoi, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane of the BJP had contested against Roy Naik of the Congress.
7:10 am: Besides Panaji, by-election was also held in Valpoi constituency on August 23.
7:05 am: The counting will begin at 8 am and the results are expected in three hours, he said, adding the postal ballots would be tallied first.
7:00 am: Goa CM Manohar Parrikar is contesting on a BJP ticket and is pitted against Congress nominee Girish Chodankar and Goa Suraksha Manch’s Anand Shirodkar.
6:55 am: The counting would be held at the Entertainment Society of Goa complex, according to a senior poll official said.
6:50 am: The electoral fate of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who contested the assembly bypoll from Panaji, will be decided today.
