A mid-air collision between an Indigo and a Vistara flight was reportedly averted on February 7th in what was a second such alarming incident in a fortnight.

These are worrying times for the DGCA, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation with many including the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation or CAPA, calling for a revamp of the civil aviation body in light of several similar such incidents that have occurred in the past few years.

With India poised to become the third largest aviation market by 2025 there is a serious need to upgrade the existing inadequacies.

In an interview to CNBC-TV18, Kapil Kaul, CEO for South Asia and Middle East at CAPA and D Sudhakara Reddy, Founder and National President for the Air Passengers Association of India discussed their views and readings on the same.
