Lalu Prasad Yadav rally in Patna Live updates: In a show of strength against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and friend turned foe Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav is holding a rally at iconic Gandhi Maidan today. It has been learnt that prominent opposition leaders like West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and former Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav will attend the event. However, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party vice president Rahul Gandhi will not be present. But senior leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, C P Joshi and Hanumantha Rao would represent the party, according to reports. Notably, rebel JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav, will also be present. Yadav is reportedly staring at an expulsion from the party for defying orders. According to reports, Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party and leaders of the NCP, CPI, RLD, JMM, JVM, DMK, Kerala Congress, RSP, AIUDF, NC and JD(S) leaders would share dais with Lalu Prasad. The rally assumes significance as several states will go to polls later this year as well as next year before the big 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Meanwhile, the BJP had lashed out at the RJD for working overtime for Sunday’s rally while thousands of people in Bihar have been reeling under devastating floods.
10:10 AM: The JD(U) faction led by Sharad Yadav today said he is following the resolution of the party’s national council by attending the RJD rally today, whereas Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has breached the decision by aligning with the BJP.
10:06 AM: Javed Raza, the general secretary of the faction led by rebel Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav, in a statement, said Kumar did not follow the decision of party’s national council in April last year, in which he was authorised to make efforts to create an atmosphere of “BJP and RSS-free India”.
10:03 AM: The fact is that Kumar did not bring up the matter before the supreme bodies of the party before aligning with the BJP and therefore he violated the schedule 10 of the Constitution, Raza said.

9:52 AM: The BJP leader and state Health minister Mangal Pandey accused Lalu Prasad and his party of being insensitive towards flood victims whom neither he nor his partymen visited at the time of distress.
9:48 AM: State JD(U) chief spokesman Sanjay Singh said, “instead of visiting flood victims, Lalu Prasad is busy showing his face as well as those of his two sons.”

9:40 AM: Retorting to the allegations by the opposition that former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh announced relief fund of Rs 1100 crore to support a similar situation, the deputy CM asserted that Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family have never supported the cause and failed to announce relief funds for flood victims.

9:30 AM: The Bihar deputy CM alleged that the opposition was trying to politicise the situation instead of supporting for the cause prevailing in the state.

9:25 AM: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Saturday slammed the opposition and said that former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family are more concerned about the 27 August ‘Desh Bachao – Bhajpa Bhagao’ rally than the state’s flood situation.

9:12 AM: Lalu Prasad had thanked Mamata Banerjee for confirming her participation at the ‘BJP bhagao, desh bachao’ rally. “Mamata Didi ko special thanks hain, RJD welcomes her to the rally,” Prasad told reporters yesterday.
