NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Days before Delhi assembly election, Delhi election commission has found that over one lakh duplicate voters' entries, are also registered in UP-NCR voters list. To ensure no bogus voting, the Delhi election commission has asked the UP-NCR administration to verify these entires and submit a report in this connection by February 5. Over two thousand staff has been deployed to execute the massive drive within short span of time.
45 thousand voter entries in Gautambudh Nagar and over 67 thousand Delhi duplicate voter entries have been found. "We have formed teams to complete the work before February 7. Our 447 booth level officers and 40 supervisors are working on the project. 80 percent work to verify 45 thousand voter entries have been completed and we will submit the final report by February 5," said Gautambudh Nagar sub divisional magistrate Rajesh Yadav.
"We will verify the voters based on their present address. For instance, if a person is registered in both Delhi and Noida voter list and he is presently living in Noida, so he will be considered as voter of Noida and his name from Delhi voter list will be deleted. Till Tuesday investigation, we have found that most of the voters are presently living in Noida," Yadav said.
On further explaining the details, Yadav added that the administration cannot say that all duplicate voter entries were made for only bogus voting, "In Delhi-NCR people used to buy properties or shift from Delhi to UP-NCR or from UP-NCR to Delhi. After shifting from one place to another people used to generate voter card on fresh address and do not delete voter card belonging to their old addresses. Which is also further turns in duplicate voter entry," Yadav added.
"After submission our report, the Delhi election commission will ensure vote casting arragements for those genuine voters, who are presently living in Delhi and were registered in UP-NCR list as well," Yadav further said.
Apart from Noida, nearly 67178 duplicate voter entries have also been found that are registered both in Delhi and Ghaziabad. On explaining the details, Ghaziabad's sub divisional magistrate (Loni) Jaipal Singh said that there are 7178 voter entries in Loni area while 60 thousand voter entries are being verified in Sahibabad area. "Our over 1500 booth level officers and other staff are working to verify the list. We will, most likely to complete list by Wednesday and submit report by February 5," he said.
According to officials, to get their properties registered in Delhi, Adhaar card is mandatory and people, who used to deal in Delhi-NCR property sale-purchase used to maintain voter cards in Delhi and UP-NCR as well to use it as identity proof.
