Xiaomi has just announced the third batch of its smartphones is now eligible for the MIUI 9 Global ROM 7.9.7 update. These are the last devices that Xiaomi plans to update to Android Nougat, as previously announced.
The Chinese company revealed plans to upgrade a bunch of smartphones to Android Nougat earlier this year but said this will be a gradual release that will happen in three stages. Xiaomi Mi 6 and Redmi Note 4 were the first to receive the update followed by a second wave of devices such as Mi Mix, Mi Note 2, Mi 5, Mi Max 2 and a couple of others.
Here is the complete list of smartphones that can now be upgraded to MIUI 9 Global Beta 7.9.7: Mi 5, Mi Max (32GB), Mi 2/2S, Mi 4, Mi Note, Mi 4i, Redmi 3, Redmi 3S/3X, Redmi 2, Redmi Note 3 (Snapdragon), Redmi Note 3 Special Edition, Redmi 4G, Redmi Note 2, Mi Max Prime, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 4G, Mi Note 2, Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus.
Aside from the global rollout of this update, Xiaomi announced that MIUI 9 China Beta ROM is available for a bunch of low-end and mid-range smartphones: Mi Note, Mi 4 Mi 3, Mi 2/2S, Mi Pad 3, Mi Pad 2, Mi Pad 1, Redmi Pro, Redmi Note 4X MTK, Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4A, Redmi 4 Prime, Redmi 4, Redmi 3S/3X, Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi Note, Redmi 3, Redmi 2A, Redmi 2, Redmi 1S, and Redmi 1.
Keep in mind that you'll need to flash this ROM if you want to upgrade to MIUI 9 since Xiaomi won't push this beta build OTA (over the air).
