MLAs staying in Coorg resort are being intimidated by TN police, Dhinakaran says

CHENNAI: Accusing the Edappadi K Palaniswami government of intimidating his MLAs staying in a resort at Coorg in Karnataka with the help of the Tamil Nadu police, sidelined AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran said he would take legal action against the police and the chief minister.

Talking to reporters at his Adyar residence, Dhinakaran said he had received reports from his MLAs that they were being threatened to support the EPS government.

"They are being told that they would either get Rs 15 crore -Rs 20 crore (for switching camps) or cases will be foisted against them," he said, accusing the chief minister of resorting to such action only to gain majority in the House.

The Trichy police have filed a case against Dhinakaran and actor Senthil, who has been appointed by him as organising secretary of the party.

On the reports of former minister and Pappireddipatti MLA P Palaniappan being arrested by the Tamil Nadu police (in a contractor suicide case), Dhinakaran said, "He is not in Coorg. I am told he is approaching the court for relief."

He asserted that his "sleeper cell" MLAs would be known during the floor test.

Dhinakaran said he was awaiting the governor to act on his representation made on September 7 against Palaniswami government.

"Wherever I go, people tell me to dissolve the government. I will go to any extent to protect the party," he said, ruling out any alliance with the DMK.

"We are not hand in glove with the DMK. That is not correct. They are our political enemy. How can we go with them? We will fight against them in the elections."
