One Army officer was killed and three soldiers injured during operations against a combined group of United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K) in Nagaland on Wednesday.
Three militants were killed in the operations and one civilian, an auto driver, was killed in the cross fire, according to Army.
Major David Manlum from Territorial Army Naga battalion and posted to Assam Rifles was killed while he was leading the operations in Lapa Lempong and Oting village near Mon.
Army sources said that the joint operation, by Assam Rifles and 12 Para Special Forces of the Army, was launched following specific information on the militants’ movement late night on Tuesday and the encounter began soon after at 23:30 hors.
The three injured soldiers of 12 Para were evacuated to military hospital in Johrat and have been reported stable.
