Pakistani troops shell border areas in Rajouri, 71 schools closed

Pakistan troops resorted to shelling along the Line of Control in the Pir Panchal Valley's Rajouri district on Thursday morning, forcing the authorities to close down schools.

The shelling, according to officials, started at 7:45 a.m. “Heavy shelling was reported in Kampla, Pukherni, Lam, Anwas Bandar, Rattal Basali on the LoC,” said Rajouri Deputy Commissioner Shahid Chaudhary.

At least 71 schools were closed due to the exchange of fire. "Lam and Pukharni areas of Nowhera were worst affected," the officials said.
