A police team from Rajasthan was in the city to investigate the case of a person who had converted to Islam for his girlfriend and then gone missing. His family suspects that he was being trained by a radical group.

According to the police, Jithender Tejaram, a native of Rajasthan, was helping his father in business in Padappai near Tambaram. While he was here, he fell in love with a Muslim girl, who was studying in a private engineering college.

He went missing in January 2017 and was traced in Mumbai by the Manimangalam police in March this year. Mr. Jithender’s family alleged that her friends took him to Mumbai, where he got converted to Islam and was being trained by a suspected radical group.

In April, Mr. Jithender’s father shifted the family to his native town of Bilara in Jodhpur district. Mr. Jithender went missing again on May 2. His father filed another complaint with the Rajasthan police.

Sources said the Rajasthan team came to Chennai and recorded the statement of the girl. She denied of having any contact with Mr. Jithender, police sources here said.
