NEW DELHI: Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad slammed Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi for "politicising the murder" of senior activist-journalist Gauri Lankesh and demanded to know why the Congress government in Karnataka "failed to provide security" for the slain scribe who is said to have been involved with "mainstreaming Naxalites".
Prasad further said "a lot of malafide comments" are being made about BJP leaders not condemning the murder "when the truth is many of us have condemned it". He further questioned "liberals and intellectuals" about why they "don't express outrage when RSS workers are killed in Kerala and Karnataka".
Prasad referred to comments by Lankesh's brother Indrajit who reportedly said his sister was working actively on the surrender of Naxalites.
"Was she (Lankesh) doing it with the consent and approval of the state government? If so, why was she not provided security by the Karnataka Congress government?" asked Prasad.
