K.T. Jaleel to inaugurate camping point tomorrow

A refurbished Mini Pampa is all set to welcome Sabarimala pilgrims coming from northern Kerala and Karnataka.

Minister for Local Self-Government K.T. Jaleel will inaugurate the renovated camping point of Ayyappa pilgrims on the banks of the Bharatapuzha at Kuttippuram on Thursday afternoon.

Mini Pampa on the southern end of the Kuttippuram road bridge is an important camping point for the Sabarimala pilgrims from Malabar and Karnataka.

It gained more significance in recent years with more and more Ayyappa devotees choosing Mini Pampa for resting in transit and government providing better facilities for the pilgrims.

Mr. Jaleel had shown much interest in the renovation of Mini Pampa. He appointed Deputy Collector Jayasankar Prasad as special officer and Deputy Tahsildar K. Suresh as coordinator for Mini Pampa at a meeting he convened there in November last year.

Mr. Jaleel expressed happiness at the speed with which the renovation work was completed at Mini Pampa.

Officials said round-the-clock police service would be ensured at Mini Pampa. Ten police personnel from different stations would be given special assignments on rotation at Mini Pampa.

Electrification work at the area had been completed. Life guards had been posted at the bathing ghat, which had claimed several lives in recent years.

Officials said there would be 12 life guards on duty at the site doing day and night shifts.

The services of a doctor would be available for the pilgrims reaching Mini Pampa in the morning and evening. The government had tied up with M.E.S. Medical College to ensure medical service.
