Say Nitish govt. is organising it for publicity
The Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal and Congress will not take part in the human chain the Bihar government has planned for January 21 to create awareness against child marriage and dowry.
“The Nitish Kumar government is organising the human chain for publicity… Had this been organised to demand a special status for Bihar, our party would have extended its support wholeheartedly. But the social issues of child marriage and dowry have been in our society for long with legal implications. What is new in it,” asked RJD MP from Bhagalpur Shailesh Kumar alias Bulo Mandal.
On Friday, Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD tweeted: “Nitish Kumar is running a government of betrayal… To get a shield for his demonic acts, he is organising the human chain.” The Congress earlier said it would not participate in the human chain.
However, Janata Dal(United) leaders have appealed to all parties to take part in the event. “It is not an event organised by the JD(U), but by the State government against social evils such as child marriage and dowry that have been afflicting our society for long,” JD(U) spokesperson Sanjay Singh said. During his Vikas Samiksha Yatra, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had appealed to the people “to make it the world’s largest human chain.”
