Thaw in fiery relations? Donald Trump may meet Kim Jong Un in May

The two leaders have exchanged serious barbs in recent past but a conciliation may be round the corner. If the two meet, it would be a first for a sitting US President to meet a North Korean leader.

District of Columbia: North Korea`s Kim Jong Un and US President Donald Trump will meet by May to secure a deal to remove nuclear weapons from the Korean peninsula, a senior South Korean official said after talks at the White House.

"President Trump appreciated the briefing, and said he would meet Kim Jong Un by May to achieve permanent denuclearization."

Later in the day, the White House confirmed that a meeting between the two leaders is indeed being planned. Trump himself took to Twitter to hail the latest diplomatic breakthrough.

If and when Trump indeed meets Kim Jong Un, he would be the first sitting US President to meet a North Korean leader.
