PV Sindhu had her "sweet revenge" over Nozomi Okuhara on Sunday when she beat the Japanese in another three-game thriller of the women's singles final at the Korea Open.
Sindhu took an hour and 23 minutes to avenge her World Championships loss and won 22-20, 11-21, 21-18 to become the first Indian to win the Korea Super Series.
Just a few weeks ago, Okuhara had outlasted the Indian 21-19, 20-22, 22-20 in an hour and 50 minutes at the World Championships in Glasgow in the second-longest women's singles match in history.
The Korea Open final was a re-run of that epic battle with the only difference being the name of the champion.
Twitter saluted the spirit of Sindhu to get over the close loss at World Championships and beat the same opponent in another long game just a few weeks later.
Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to express his excitement over Sindhu's win and described his ecstasy over the "sweet revenge."
