Bhanu Chaitanya met with an accident
A 32-year-old man who met with a fatal accident has given new lease of life to four persons, after his death.
N. Bhanu Chaitanya, a farmer from Yetukuru village had a fatal road accident while returning to his home on December 3. He was rushed to the Guntur City Hospitals in a serious condition. Doctors said he had suffered a massive internal hemorrhage and declared him brain dead the next day.
After counselling members of his family about organ donation, the management of Guntur City Hospitals contacted Jeevandan Trust, which notified about the requirement of various vital organs.
Chaitanya’s organs were harvested on Tuesday morning. His heart was flown to Fortis Hospital Chennai in a special aircraft from Gannavaram airport. His liver and kidneys were transported to Ayush Hospitals, Vijayawada in an ambulance. His cornea was sent to Agarwal hospitals, Guntur. A team of doctors led by neurologist Sivaramakrishna, neurosurgeon Ch. Lakshman Rao, nephrologist Srinivasa Reddy and orthopedician Jayakishan performed the organ transplantation in the hospital. Managing Director of Guntur City Hospitals Degala Prabhakar congratulated the team of doctors and thanked the members of the family of Chaitanya.
